# Battle core "Assistance cards"

Assistance cards are the base form of **attack and defense** of the game, therefore a vital part of the game.

## What are Assistance Cards?

An assist card is any knight card in your hand that is designated for units to block or attack.

## How to set an Assistance Card?

Select a card in your hand, then place it face down over a knight unit. 

You can set only one support card in this way on each of your units during each of your "Command Phase".

## When are they used?

Assistance cards are normally used during combat; functionality varies depending on your role in this cycle.

* **Attacker Role:** Assistance cards are revealed to attack the cells listed on that card, with the damage type of the assistance card.
* **Defender Role:** The cards are used to attemp to block damage received by the unit from attacks. 

## Dynamic Assistance

When a knight takes damage while you are in the attacker role and they have an assistance card equipped, the assistance card changes its function from an attack card to a blocking card.
